Filling the kiln.

blog_24November2009

I’ve been toying with firing the kiln half-filled. I have several memory boxes that are dry enough to fire, but not enough to fill the kiln. I dislike firing unless the kiln is full – it’s not an efficient use of energy – and, obviously, it is cheaper to fire a full load when figuring it per piece. So what to do?

The solution? Make a few smaller pieces. They will be dry enough to fire in a few days. Hurray!

Are you going to be bringing those pieces to GIG in April? I would love to get one. Roaching with ETS is a common occurrence in my house.

Wow at the work you’ve got going on. I love the last pic of Sage. It is so funny how much they like to eat your clay.
