Three hundred pounds.

In the works : Frankenstein

Turns out you need 300 pounds of clay to make a (roughly) 100 pound dog. Of course when it’s all done the piece will weigh much less. It will have to be sliced apart and hollowed out to the skin.  Long way to go with this one, it’s been so much fun!

In the works : ready to hollow

Tomorrow will be time to hollow, then re-sculpt the details. Hurray! I love this piece.

Oh — about the decision of the previous post. I leaving this piece as is but going to build another piece with the heads over both the backs. Better to just let this one be what it wants (I love the feeling). Not good to force a piece to be something it doesn’t want to be. Thanks for all the comments both here and on Facebook. I appreciate them all!

I’m so stinkin’ excited over the sitting grey. I don’t know why, but I just get a happy feeling looking at it. Don’t hurt your back with that heavy thing.

Sarah
I haven’t been on your blog or website in a few weeks..wow you have some tremendous work going. Your sitting dog you show on your blog is really nice, and the two dogs together, kind of took the wind out of me, there is so much emotion in those pieces…it’s hard to describe..unbelievable, you are in a zone, keep it up- you’re work is making history-I’m proud to know you when…(I just keep going back and staring….) I’m at a loss for words
