Time is up! Wow I’m so in awe reading all your Thanks! I’ll announce the winner tomorrow morning. See you then….
The tradition on this day is to list the things that one is thankful. I love this game, and play often.
Here are mine for today (in no particular order).
And all sorts of other things….
So here’s the challenge. To celebrate all of you who give your thanks and praise for my work, I’m giving away one of my new sterling silver pendants with a bright finish.
To enter the contest, answer the following question in the comments section of this blog post.
“What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving day?”
Please, one entry per person. No entries after 9:00 pm Pacific Time Saturday, November 29. I’ll announce the winner on Sunday morning.
If you’re thinking that the pendant would make a great gift to show someone in your life how special they are, the pedants can be found here and here. Email if you have question or for non-US delivered purchases.
I am thankful for my family who are with me now, the memories of those who have gone on, the memories we make for the future. My son’s hug and impish smile that can cheer a blue day. My hounds elation and warm greetings that make me feel needed and loved. My husbands never ending support( and the fact that he actually went along with getting a puppy! I am thankful for the simple joys and blessings of being a grateful greyhound fanatic and being able to turn people onto greyhound adoption by being active in rescue..
Whether or not you ran a contest…I was going to say that *I* am also very thankful that you called Greyhound Pets of America too! Otherwise I might missed out on having a really wonderful friend. And of course all of those wonderful dogs I ‘termed’ “A Teddy Bear” might not have gotten to have such a great home, as they found with you.
Sarah, Happy Thanksgiving! I hope the snow is not too deep! Lots of scritches to your lovely hounds.
I am also thankful for my family, my many hounds and cats and that I can walk without support. Just hiking away these days.
And you know I already ordered a pendant and tile (waiting for those with great anticipation!)…so no worries about sending me another.
Robin
Of course, I’m thankful for my husband, our friends and relatives and for our greyhounds (adopted, foster and Bridgekids). I am greytful for internet groups like GH-L and Greytalk where I have met wonderful cyber-friends who share my passion for greys. I am greytful for folks like Cara & Jerry Brockhoff (Northcoast Greyhounds). I’m greytful for the kennelworkers who love they greys while they’re racing; for the owners who send them into adoption programs when their careers end, and for the front-line adoption groups who send the greys to non-racing states. I am greytful for each and every person who has adopted a greyhound. And even more greytful for the adopters who volunteer to help find homes for even more hounds. Greyhound placement takes many hands and hearts. For them all, I am greytful.
I am thankful for all the greyt fortune I’ve had in the last year. Not the monitary kind, but the good fortune of having a fionce that hasn’t left me because of all the greys I’ve brought home this year (three in total). I’m thankful for having such wonderful greys, they are each perfect in their own way.
I am thankful for a wonderful job that allows me to help fix sick and injured pets. My job also allows me all of the above luxuries

I’m also thankful for my first house we bought this year, which has afforded me the ability to house my greys. I am also thankful for all the new friends I’ve made because of my pups.
I too am thankful for indoor plumbing, without it I am lost. I am super thankful for technology, without it I would have never found this grety artist that I hope to decorate my dog room with her art
What is super funny is that my thankful list, I just realized, revolves around my dogs, much like my life
2008 has been a bit of a rough year, so I am so very grateful to have two beautiful hounds to remind me what’s important in life . . . to breathe deep and soak in everything around me, to take joy in the everyday and to live and love a little harder. My babies are both seniors now so I try to soak in everyday the blessings they are and have an extra snuggle even though there is laundry to be done or be a little more patient when someone needs a potty break in the wee hours. I am truly grateful for the peace and joy my greyhounds bring into my life.
I am thankful for my family and friends and the three wonderful greys I share my life with!
I am thankful for my family, both human and animal.
I am thankful that we are all healthy and can enjoy one another. After a serious health scare with one of my hounds, I have learned never to take good health for granted.
I am thankful we have enough food, a roof over our heads, and enough money to pay the bills.
I am thankful for the love I have in my life, and the peace I have in my home and community.
I am Thankful for how much I have personally grown through my wonderful association with Greyhounds.
Because of the love of these dogs, I now do Hospice visits with my TDI Therapy hound Rainy, participate in the Dog Tales reading program for children and volunteer on the adoption board for Compassion for Greyhounds.
The love that these dogs give has spilled over in all areas of my life - this I am truly thankful for.
I am thankful that I have my husband of 25 years to share my life with. I am thankful to have a warm home to come to each day, and that we both have jobs. I am thankful that both of our mothers are still alive as well as all our borthers and sisters.
I am thankful that I yelled “STOP” one Saturday afternoon when I saw a bunch of greyhounds in front of a local pet store. That day changed our lives in more ways than I can count.
I am thankful for my husband, I have been blessed with one of the very best!!
I am thankful for a healthy family, a roof over our heads and jobs to pay the bills.
I am blessed to have wonderful friends, the greyhound community is truly an amazing group of people.
I am thankful that my dear sweet Boss is home with us today, that he isn’t ready to cross over. …that I saw his smile today…
I am thankful for the beautiful day I just spent with my mom.
I’m thankful for every day that I have with my family and friends. I’m thankful for the greyhounds who enrich my life and help to show me what life is all about (sleeping and eating mainly according to them!). I’m thankful for Crooke sending me Elphie to help me heal after she died. I’m thankful that my friend’s greyhound, Bonnie, is still with us and doing well 9 months after her lymphoma diagnosis. I’m thankful that I live in a country where I have the right (and the ability) to be free. AND I’m very thankful for the soldiers who are fighting (and sometimes dying) so that I can keep that right.
I’m thankful for my kids and my pets.
I’m thankful that we’re all healthy.
I’m thankful to be feeling happy today.
I am thankful for many things. First of all for my skin family! My husband and son, and all of my husbands’ extended family who for the past 30 years have treated me as one of their own.
Next, I am thankful for my hounds. When we walked into the Greyhound Pets of America office three and a half years ago, we had no idea of what we were getting into! We thought that we were adopting a family pet. Turns out we adopted a passion and a cause in addition to a family pet - well, actually four family pets! Greyhounds are so much more then just the breed of dog that we happen to own, they are now a central part of our lives. Finding homes for the ones who are waiting is our mission. Promoting Greyhound adoption is our passion. I can honestly says that Greyhounds have changed our lives for the better. My husband and I are better people because of the wonderful hounds that grace our sofas and teach us to share!
So thank you GPA-Greater Orlando for opening the door for us to a very special place. The place where our hearts and souls have found their home.
After losing both of my parents 2 years ago, I am so thankful that the rest of my immediate family is close by. They are all healthy and happy - my nephew is home from Iraq whole and healthy; my brand new grand daughter spent about a month in the hospital after she was born and is now the most healthy, happy round loittle thing I could ever ask for; my younger son has finally grown up and become the man I knew he could be.
I am so grateful for one of my good friends introducing me to her greyhound and bringing me into this wonderful world of people and hounds. My 2 pups make me happier than I ever though dogs could make me.
I am thankful for my small group of close friends - people that I know would do anything for me, the same as I would do for them.
Lately, I am thankful that I have my health, a steady job, and a nice home.
I’m thankful that it took me 7 years to convince my husband to get a dog…and I’m thankful for him randomly suggesting we take a look at greyhounds as opposed to just letting me adopt a doxie like I had been begging him to do for so long. I am so thankful for our two beautiful black greyhounds, the two years we have had with them so far, and the many, many people who work tirelessly to save another grey every day. I am thankful for those who preserve their memory in such beautiful art. I am thankful for every being that has touched my life, and for all of those who are still yet to come. Happy Thanksgiving!!
I am thankful for my health as I have had a rough couple of months. I am thankful for my job, my home & all of the wonderful animals I share that home with as they have brought so much joy & happiness into my life. I am thankful for my family…….most especially my mom who loves me unconditionally & has helped me grow in so many ways. And, I am thankful for the wonderful friends that are my family of choice……I have been truly blessed.
Happy Thanksgiving & may your year ahead be filled with moments to be thankful for!
I have so very much to be thankful for this year!
~ I am thankful that I too contacted GPA. I will be forever grateful to the hardworking volunteers that brought me my first boy, Dewey, he is the love of my life and I feel blessed every single day to have him with me.
~ I am thankful that Dewey has been such a wonderful dog. Because of him we have adopted two more dogs (Roxie & Fallon) and have pre-adopted two puppies as well.
~ I am thankful that my husband and I are such a good team. While we may have had our trials over the last 7 years. Together the world doesn’t seem so scary. I am thankful every day for his support and love.
I consider myself very blessed today and every day. Thank you for your post. It is wonderful to hear the blessings of others as well.
~ I am thankful that my step father is out of the hospital on on his way to a healthier life. He is my mom’s rock and life without him for her is unimaginable.
~ I am thankful for my father. He has definitely shaped who I am today. Taught me to be responsible, have a good sense of humor about life and to give hugs as often as possible.
~ I am thankful that my sister and her children are on their way to a safer and happier life. Divorce is not a picnic for anyone, but in this case it is certainly a blessing from above.
~ I am thankful for a roof over my head, food in the pantry, safe vehicles to drive and that my husband and I have reliable jobs. While we always strive to better our postion in life, being thankful for what we have in front of us at any given moment is powerful.
I am thankful for dog hair. It reminds me throughout every day that the love of my hounds follows me wherever I am.
I wake up in the morning and it is on my sheets and pajamas. I get out of the shower and it is on my towels and slippers.
When I dress for the day, the lint brush is by my side as I brush off the hairs of the loves of my life.
When I kiss my husband who loves the hounds as much or even more…..there may be a hair in the kiss and hug and of course, on our clothes.
I am thankful for family, friends, dogs we love now and dogs we have lost…hounds rescued, hounds adopted but most of all…..dog hair.
