Darn bunnies (continued).

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. Bad glazes, cracks, warpage, ugly. All disappointments. For those times we have Mr. Hammer.

Remember the bunny box from yesterday? Take another look at it:

Box 4x4x12 inches (detail) Rabbit

Look at that sweet bunny. I really am pleased with the way the light works with the bunny form. I like the way the image on the box’s sides references the bunny at the top — almost like the dog is thinking of the bunny (and you know I like that theme). But…

hammer meet Bunny

Mr. Hammer, meet yesterday’s bunny box.

Yes, Cynthia, you had it right…

hammer one

See, yesterday’s bunny box is guilty of several errors in judgment: walls are too thick with nasty cracks on edges and bottom, the glaze is spotty, and we won’t even mention how the box abandons all hope of symmetry.

hammer two

And for that, yesterday’s bunny box must die.

hammer three

Mr. Hammer is quick and, gulp, painless ?

hammer five

Here’s the worst part. Shade your eyes if you’re of the faint of heart…

hammer six

The final blow.

hammer eight

R.I.P. Bunny box.

  1. So how long does it take you to decide to take out the hammer? Are you wishy washy about it or are you so mad at the mistakes you see (which, by the way 90% of the world can’t – which doesn’t matter to an artist I know) that you just can’t wait to smash it to pieces?

Poor bunny… :( Please tell me that beautiful, luminous greyhound box you posted about the other day didn’t meet the same fate! Carmon

Nooooooooo – that’s what my daughter said when she saw your post!

  4. Ahhhhh! Bunny bites the dust!

Looks like that could be fun though, Sarah…and a good stress release? Bam!
